Carl D. Bunton

Carl D. Bunton, 72, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at his residence in Alexander County.

He was born on Monday, February 19, 1951, in Iredell County, to the late Claude Franklin Bunton and Mary Poole Bunton. Mr. Bunton was the co-owner and founder of Bunton Surveying and Mapping. He was a member of Millersville Baptist Church. Carl sang with the Slimy River Bottom Boys. He was a part of prison and nursing home ministries. Carl enjoyed riding motorcycles, old cars, playing the guitar, singing, and singing in the choir at Millersville Baptist Church.

Including his parents, he was preceded in death by twin infant sons; brothers, Atwell and Jimmie Bunton; and sister, Claudine Bunton.
Those left to cherish the memories of Carl include his son, Derek Bunton (Kelley); daughter, Carla Harrington (Mark); sisters, Colleen Campbell and Ruth McLarty (Paul); four grandchildren, Calyn Davis, Darion Whisnant (Garrett), Cole Bunton, and Brailey Harrington; and a number of nieces, nephews, and special friends.

A visitation will be held Saturday, February 25, 2023, at Millersville Baptist Church from 2:00 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 25, 2023, at Millersville Baptist Church at 4:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Bill Orren, Rev. Wes Hammer, and Rev. Brian Kerley will officiate.
