Bruce Dean Carrigan
Bruce Dean Carrigan, 67, passed away on June 18, 2026, after a period of declining health. He was born September 9, 1958, the fifth child of Clyde and Evelyn D. Carrigan.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Zane Carrigan, and nephew, Mark Burns.
His career was in the automotive mechanic field. He worked 29-plus years at the Conover Ford dealership, retiring when the dealership closed in 2013. His hobbies were drag racing and bench rest competitive shooting. He won awards in both sports. He loved attending both drag and NASCAR races with friends until his health failed. He enjoyed groundhog hunting with his Dad and fishing with friends. He was extremely outgoing and loved talking with everyone. Bruce was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are his sister, Dale Terry of Bethlehem; brothers, Steven Carrigan of Taylorsville, and Derek Carrigan (with whom he made his home) of Bethlehem; niece, Lindsay Carrigan of Raleigh; nephew, Timothy Burns of Bethlehem; special aunts, Ellen and Polly Carrigan; and many friends and cousins.
He enjoyed time with dear friends who supported him after his health began to fail: Lynn Smith (Hazel), Lindsay Bowman, Wayne Walker, Robbie Huffman, Wayne Sylvester (Jeannie), Robert Wood, and Beverly Jo Nichols.
The family will receive friends at Alexander Funeral Service on Monday, June 22, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. At other times, they will be at the home of Dale Terry. A private service will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be with his parents at Oakwood Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bruce may be made to Alexander Hospice, 50 Lucy Echerd Lane, Taylorsville, NC 28681.
