Ronald “Ron” Lynn Fortner

Ronald “Ron” Lynn Fortner, 71, of Taylorsville, passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at his home.

He was born April 4, 1952, in Iredell County, the son of the late Lynn Fortner and Faye Bebber Fortner.

He graduated from Appalachian State University and was the owner and operator of Fortner Lumber Company, Inc. for 46 years. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Lee Lodge #253 of Taylorsville, The Brushy Mountain Shriner Club, and a member of the Scottish Rite. He enjoyed fishing and will be remembered for his good breakfast.

Including his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Alan Fortner.

Those left to cherish and honor his memory include his wife, Deborah Little Fortner of the home; his daughter, Lindy Fortner of Taylorsville; his sons, Josh Fortner and wife Amy, and Justin Fortner and wife Shea, all of Taylorsville; his grandchildren, Riley, Eli, Katie, Reese, Rowin, and Ethan; his sister, Ann Fortner Hefner and husband Jeffrey of the Wittenburg Community; his sister-in-law, Barbara Little Hayes of Taylorsville; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Calvary Baptist Church. Pastor Stephen Dagenhart will officiate. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Friday, May 12, 2023, at Adams Funeral Home.
